Once upon a time, in New Mexico, there was a jazz band made up of animals who loved to play music in the desert. Randy the Rattlesnake played the trumpet, Rico the Roadrunner played the drums, and Pedro the Peacock played the saxophone. They would play for hours and hours, and all the animals of the desert would come to listen and dance along to their jazzy tunes.

One day, a beautiful Song Sparrow known as Lola the Lark came to the desert. She had flown all over the country to sing and play music, and she heard the jazz band playing from far away. As she approached, she couldn’t help singing along with their music, and her voice added a new dimension to their sound. The band welcomed her with open arms and asked her to join them.

The desert creatures became huge fans of the jazz band, and they would gather around them whenever they played. However Randy the Rattlesnake noticed that Lola, in particular, received a lot of praise for her beautiful voice, and the animals couldn't get enough of her melodic chirping. They would dance and sing along to the band's jazzy tunes, and they loved how the music made them feel, but would only go up to say hello to Lola and give her all the compliments.

Randy the Rattlesnake started to become jealous of Lola's beautiful voice. He felt like she was taking over the band and stealing the spotlight. Lola's popularity continued to grow, she began to unknowingly make Randy feel insignificant. She received more and more attention for her stunning voice, and Randy felt left out.

One day, during a performance, Randy purposefully played a loud and off-key solo, drowning out Lola's beautiful melody. Lola, hurt and frustrated, stopped singing and flew away in a huff.

The rest of the band noticed the tension between Randy and Lola, and knew that something needed to be done to resolve it. The band talked things through with Lola and explained that Randy is feeling like Lola is taking all the spotlight. This made Lola realize that she had been neglecting her friend. Determined to make things right, Lola reached out to Randy and apologized for not recognizing his contributions to the band. She made sure to include him in the creative process and gave him more opportunities to shine during their performances. Randy and Lola took turns on solos, and Lola made sure to ask the audience to applaud for Randy giving him the spotlight he deserves. She started doing this with everyone in the band.

In the end, the jazz band continued to play in the desert, entertaining all the animals who came to listen and dance to their harmonious melodies. They realized that working together, appreciating each other's talents, and sharing the spotlight was the key to creating beautiful music and living in harmony.


And so, Randy, Lola, Rico and Pedro played music together every day, making beautiful Jazz that could be heard throughout the desert. The animals would dance and sing along, and the band knew that they had found true happiness in their friendship and music.
